LENSCAGED PRODUCTION? I'd like to know more! We’re glad you asked! We are a boutique wedding photography and filmmaking company founded by VARUN and AYUSH BANSAL in 2013. We are a team of highly motivated, passionate and friendly photographers and filmmakers who make wedding stories for a living. Our work is modern, off-beat and contemporary. See more at our photography showcase here or our wedding films showcase here.
-
What’s the Lenscaged Production experience like? It’s hard for us to really explain! You can read about experiences other couples have had with us in our testimonials section here.
-
What motivates you to shoot weddings? This is something that we’ve thought long and hard about. At Lenscaged Production, we’re all visual arts professionals who’ve left a variety of careers to find our place in the wonderful world of Indian Weddings. We love the energy, the happiness and the stories that we can find at a wedding. We love being a part of a happy family, being a part of the best day in two people’s lives and being given the honour and responsibility of telling that story. We love people, and we find that documenting weddings gives us the best opportunity to use our talents in the best way possible.
-
How long have you been shooting weddings and how many weddings have you shot?We first started shooting weddings way back in 2013 during the renaissance in Indian Wedding Photography. Since then, we’ve shot hundreds of love stories across the India – and look forward to being a part of yours. We’ve shot almost every kind of wedding there is, and never cease to be fascinated by the big-fat-Indian-wedding.
-
Which locations have you travelled to for shooting weddings? Have you covered destination weddings?Yes, of course – we’ve shot weddings all over India. We’ve had the privilege of shooting in almost every corner of India, as well as beautiful destination wedding photography spots like
-
Where are you based? Are you open to travel for my wedding? We are based in New Delhi, India. We have shot weddings all over the India and are happy to travel to your wedding – wherever it may be! Being based in a major metropolis, we enjoy easy connectivity to all parts of South Asia and the world.
-
Do you offer video as well as photos?Yes, absolutely! For us, a wedding film is as crucial to your wedding memories as are photos. We have a fully in-house wedding cinematography production unit that works seamlessly with the photography team to ensure that your memories are perfectly in sync with each other.
-
Who will actually shoot my wedding? We are a fully in-house team of photographers, cinematographers, editors etc. Your team will be led by either Gagan, or a Senior Director. We have flexible options based on your wedding investment – please contact us to work with our Client Services Team to create a package best suited to your unique wedding.
-
What if our ceremony is in a different language? That’s a great question and we understand your concern. Our team speaks and understands English, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali. We have also covered weddings in languages that were not native to us. There’s a plethora of information on the internet about different cultures and their wedding traditions and we will approach yours with an understanding of all the rituals. We usually have a pre-production meeting with our couples before our wedding to understand their needs and expectations. And above all, our experience in this field has given us an understanding of human emotions. We may not understand the language but we do understand what is important to our clients.
-
Do you shoot both “sides” of a wedding?Yes, we absolutely do! As a matter of fact, we highly recommend hiring just us to shoot both the groom’s and the bride’s family. It’s an absolute waste of resources to have two separate teams to essentially the same thing. We have enough resources in-house to be able to cover your entire wedding from start to finish.
-
Can I opt for only photography or videography packages/or hire another photography team?Yes absolutely. But we highly recommend that you hire us for the entire package. When we cover a wedding, we are shooting your story from a certain perspective that reflects in both our photography and films. Hiring two teams can cause a clash of ideas, and both your end products to be different from each other.
-
I want to make sure my family members and closest friends are not missed in the photos/film. Can that happen?Yes definitely! We will work very closely with you to identify what we call the “inner circle” of people. Before the wedding, we ask the couple to submit a list of names with photos, which is later distributed to the team. We will make every effort to ensure that these people aren’t missed out.
-
Do you deliver every image you shoot? No. At a standard two-day wedding, we shoot about 15,000 to 20,000 images, more if the wedding is longer. So we go through each and every image thoroughly and only select the images which are technically correct, and in line with our vision for your wedding. We have a very high rejection rate, as photojournalistic style photos often result in not-too-pleasing expressions. All the other images with bad expressions, missed focus or poorly composed ones are not selected for delivery. We can assure you that our experience of processing millions of images over the years has made us quite a bit of an expert. You can rest assured that we will deliver all the best images to you and you will not miss out on any wedding memories.
-
Will you provide me with a full dump of all the photos taken from my wedding? I don’t mind if they aren’t processed, I just want to see the full dump of pictures taken during my wedding days.As a standard process we do not, but if you really, really want them – please get in touch with us and we will be happy to find a way to deliver them to you.
-
How many team members do you travel with? Can reducing the crew size reduce my cost?We believe in quality and not quantity. Usually, for a mid-sized wedding (100-400 people), we require a basic crew of 7-8 people including the lead. There is a minimum number of crew members required to deliver the quality of images and video we guarantee, so reducing crew members will only serve to reduce the quality of photos and film that you get. Having said that, every wedding is different and we would require talking with you personally to decide the number of people needed.
-
How are the photos and/or film delivered to us?We have a completely online delivery system. Your wedding photos, trailer, and film will be uploaded to our Online Gallary system which makes it extremely easy to share with friends or family!
-
What’s your wedding photography style? Our style is modern, contemporary and off-beat. When we first started wedding photography in 2013, we were amongst one of the first photographers to start the new trend of “candid” photos. Our main objective back then was to create wedding stories that was the opposite of the posed, templatised and traditional styles that were popular then. Our original premise still holds true today, and we’re always pushing ourselves to create wedding images that are “true” to the wedding and something that deeply resonates with our couples.
-
Is there a style or quality differences among the lead photographers?Yes, each lead photographer has a different style that they have spent years developing and honing. However, our focus is always on teamwork – which is why when put together, you’ll see that almost all the stories on our website follow the same style and approach – we love fun, happiness, joy and everything in between.
-
Do you edit the photos? How much editing is involved?Do you edit the photos? How much editing is involved? Yes, all images provided to you will be edited to match the vision we had for each photo. Our editing style is a light touch – and mostly involves using a colour palette that we love. To get a general idea of our editing style, please go through our portfolio on this website.
-
What camera do you use for wedding photography? Or, what equipment do you use?We have a long and extensive list of the very best equipment that exists in the world to ensure you great great memories. However, we are a champion of the “it’s not the camera, it’s the photographer” line of thought. What this means is that as professional photographers and film-makers it’s our talent and vision that generates great pictures and videos. However, due to the rigours of wedding storytelling, we rely on a host of different equipment to get us the results we love.
-
How many wedding pictures do you typically provide per wedding? What are your selection criteria? We do not limit the number of images we shoot during a wedding (the wonders of digital photography!). The kind of work we do results in a number of rejected photos – bad expressions, bad lighting, distractions in the frame and so on. After a painstaking review, we reject around 60-70% of the material right away for one reason or the other. The rest of the photos are manually selected, colour corrected, juxtaposed to tell a story if needed and marked for final delivery. On average, we deliver between 600-800 images from a two-day wedding, and between 1000-1200 images from a three-day wedding (and so on…). This will be more than sufficient for you to relive your wedding, frame by frame.
-
How many hours should we set aside for photos on our wedding day?We understand that the day of your wedding is super busy and unpredictable. But we suggest you keep an hour for your portraits after you are in your wedding outfits. These are memories that will be with you for the rest of your lives, so it’s important you make time to capture yourself that day.
-
How long will it take for you to deliver our wedding photos? We send you a short set of highlights within a week of your wedding so that you can formally announce your wedding, share on social media, register your wedding and so on. The rest of the deliverables typically take between 10-12 weeks after your wedding dates.
-
I want pictures to post on social media a few days after my wedding, can that happen? We understand how excited you are to see your wedding pictures soon and share it with your friends. We usually deliver a small selection of images 8-10 days after your wedding!
-
Who decides the music of the film? Can I get the music that I want for my wedding film? The decision of the music on the film is a collaborative effort between you and us. We will take into consideration your choice and suggestions of music you want to have in your wedding film. However, our main aim is to create a film with music that will be relevant even decades from now. We strive for timeless memories that do not appear out of place even when you watch it years from your wedding day.
-
Do we get to see the wedding film/trailer before the final delivery?Yes, definitely. Before we deliver your final wedding film or share it on our social media, we send it to you for a preview, should you want any changes made. Only after your final approval, do we finish the film.
-
What if I want some changes to be made to my wedding trailer/film?We usually allow two rounds of changes to the wedding trailer and film. We completely understand that there is always room for changes and edits, and want to ensure that you’re absolutely happy with what you get – after all, it’s your wedding! We urge you to tell us all the changes in one go so that we can incorporate them in the first go – and leave the second round for any minor changes as needed.
-
How long will it take for you to deliver our pre-wedding photos? We typically deliver a small bunch of about 10-15 photos within 10 days from your pre-wedding session. The full set is delivered to you about 4 weeks after your pre-wedding shoot.
-
When should we plan to do our pre-wedding session?Technically, it can be done whenever you want! But realistically, at least 4-6 weeks before your wedding is when you should plan your pre-wedding shoot. Anytime later than that, and we won’t be able to give you your images before your wedding. In case, you are not able to find a suitable date before your wedding, we can do a short session after your wedding as well!
-
We cannot do it during the week because of work. Can we schedule it on the weekend?Of course, as long as we don’t have any prior commitments or shoots scheduled, we are happy to shoot your pre-wedding session on a weekend!
-
How many images can I expect from my pre-wedding shoot?Although each pre-wedding session is different, we typically deliver between 40-70 images from a single pre wedding session that usually lasts 4-6 hours.
-
Who owns the usage rights to my wedding images? What is a personal rights release, and who owns the copyright?Along with the assignment, you own the full usage rights to your wedding photos for non-commercial use. Legal jargon aside, that means you can do whatever you want with your wedding photos (like making more albums, taking prints, sending them out to relatives, sharing them online and what have you). The only thing you cannot do is resell your wedding images – which we are sure you will not want to do! As the photographer, we will own the ‘copyright’ to the photographs, which means we own the creator rights to the photograph.
-
Will you be using the final wedding photos in your portfolio and on your social media channels? What if we do not want that?We may! If your wedding results in terrific wedding photos (and we are sure it will!), we would love to share those pictures on our personal portfolio on our website and Instagram handle as examples of great work we’ve done, so that other couples may also be inspired by your wedding.
-
Do you backup our images? What if I lose my copy?Yes, we maintain multiple back-ups of your wedding data in our studio and provide a guaranteed recovery for 12 months after your wedding. We highly recommend that you download your copy of the wedding photos and videos and archive them onto multiple cloud servers for long time safekeeping. We still maintain data back-ups after a year, but we do not guarantee the safety of your data after that one year.
-
Do you also provide wedding albums?Yes! In fact, we absolutely insist that you have a wedding albums. We believe in the magic of print, and no matter how good digital devices may be, nothing can replace the charm of a wedding album. These family heirlooms are a critical part of the final piece of work. We have all kinds of wedding albums available, and keep updating our collection every year. We offer albums made in India. Please get in touch with us for our latest catalogue.
-
Do I need to spend hours pouring over contact sheets to choose images for the album?Do I need to spend hours pouring over contact sheets to choose images for the album? No! We do all the heavy lifting for you. After spending time at your wedding, we’ll know who the important people in your family are. Based on our inner knowledge, we’ll design the album for you.
-
How long does it take to get my album? From the time you approve your album, it takes between 12-15 days for it to get printed and reach our studio. After that, depending on where you are located in the world, it should take less than a week to reach you.
-
Can I add more pages and images to my album? We typically recommend albums with 40 spreads (80 pages) that contains about 200-250 images from your wedding celebrations. If it so happens that you want more pages, we suggest getting extra albums.
-
How do I get started on my wedding album? We design the master layout of your album at the first level. It’s a carefully curated story-album with the best and most important moments from your wedding. We live in a different city/country OR We are currently out of town. Can our family/friends meet you instead?Though it is the best when we can meet our couples in person, we understand if it’s not possible. Yes, we would love to meet any of your family and friends. But please make sure that it is someone who has a deep understanding of you who are as people and as a couple, and a clarity on what your wedding will be like so that we can understand you better.
-
Do you travel to meet clients? We prefer to meet our clients in our studio. It’s the best way for them to see our work and get an understanding of each other. But if that is not possible, we are happy to set up a consultation at a venue of your choice.
-
How can I meet you in person and see some of your work? Please get in touch with us to setup a consultation and presentation. We look forward to meeting you!
-
Do you charge any travel fees in case our wedding/pre-wedding destination is in another city?Yes. Any travel costs to the location of the pre-wedding shoot or wedding is to be borne by the client, except in Delhi-NCR.
-
Do you charge extra for outstation assignments? The short answer is no, we do not! Our core assignment fees will remain the same – and will only cover the number of days we will actually be shooting. We realise that we need to be available to shoot where and when needed and recognise that there will be non-billable days in travel. That’s all right, but out-of-station assignments will have an extra travel and lodging charge associated, which will be at actuals.
-
My wedding spans three days, of which the first and second day don’t involve full day work. Why are you charging me for three full days?”This is a standard question, and it’s a valid one. There are two parts here: The first is that we will be booking our full day to be available for you, and therefore lose out on other potential assignments we could have shot that day. The second, and more important one is that in our experience during Indian weddings, things average out. Your wedding day may (and most probably will) involve shooting overtime, as Indian weddings aren’t known to get over without a song and a dance! We won’t be charging you for working extra if your wedding needs it, so at the end of the day, things really do average out.
-
Are your wedding packages negotiable? I can’t afford what you charge! We truly understand how expensive it is to get married. There are a million things you need to pay for, and some of them are more challenging than others. However, premium wedding photography also comes at a price – and we can’t even begin to start justifying the effort it takes to deliver quality photos or films like the ones you see on this website. Either way, please do get in touch with us – we may be more affordable than you think!
